Here are some interesting reads found on the Net.

1) Blogging by Drawing- Going by the online moniker Stickgirl, the blogger uses drawing of stick figures to convey her life to other blog readers. Stickgirl had also signed on a book deal, scheduled to be released soon. Here are a few examples of blog posts

On her new love for Burberry:

2)Can I have my spider back, please? - Apparently, this was based on a true story. Quite hilarious huh?

---

3) Taxi Diaries - This was a blog set up by an ex-Scientist (with a PhD from Stamford) who became a taxi driver after getting retrenched. His claim to fame is his everyday stories of people who take his taxi, some of which can be quite interesting

Also, the blogger got a book-deal with a publisher, and is scheduled to release his book in early March.

An excerpt from his blog:

We were reaching her stop, which was in a carpark next to an HDB block. She took out her wallet, held it in her hand, and said slowly, “Yeah. But I have this arthritis for many years. I have never been in a working condition.”

That was what caused her heavy steps, I realized.

I tried to cheer her up. “That’s okay. You don’t have to work then. At least you have your husband to support you.”

“My husband passed away,” she said under her breath. Her hands stopped opening her wallet.

I stuttered, “I…I’m sorry.”

She looked at me, her eyes two ice cubes melting under the sun. “You know a month and half ago, in the news, a husband and a son jumped off a building...”

As if struck by lightning, I felt a current bolt from my scalp to my feet. “My god. That’s your…” I froze in shock.

“Yes. That’s my…husband and…my boy.” Her tears finally overran the dam and streamed down her cheeks.

I read the news after I came back from the trip to China. This was one of the most heartbreaking family tragedies I had heard of in Singapore. I was extremely saddened by the realization that human lives were so fragile, and could be shattered at the most unexpected moments.

Without New Media, would it be possible for the bloggers of Stickgirl and Taxi Diaries to get known on the world wide web, and subsequently get a contract to release a book?

I think the chances would be really slim, as one reason to them securing a book deal would be because they've got a wide fan-base, and there's a certain number of buyers for their book.

Without the New Media, the author of Can I have my Spider back? would not have his email forward to so many people, thus becoming famous.

In conclusion, New Media plays a huge part in the everyday entertainment we get on the Web.

Power of Tweeting

The power of Tweeting:

A few months ago, Disney sensation Miley Cyrus deleted her Twitter account. It was reported that she did so after being asked by her then-boyfriend Liam Hemsworth. Fans of Miley Cyrus were upset and petitioned for her to get back on Twitter-land.

One fan took it the extreme way.

Known only as @mileysavefuzzy, he (or maybe a she) threatened to kill and cook his beloved cat if Miley did not return to Twitter after a specific deadline. Within a few weeks, hundreds and thousands of people learned about him and joined as his friend. PETA and relevant authorities even got wind of this and contacted @mileysavefuzzy, hoping to help save Fuzzy's life.

The rule of his game is: As long as Miley reactivates and start tweeting, Fuzzy the cat's life will be extended by 1 week, until he sees that Miley is pretty much active in Twitter again. He seemed to have all the time in the world refreshing Miley's twitter page and seeing if she's back on Twitter.

As a follower of Miley Cyrus on Twitter, I can see why it became addictive until it's almost like a ritual every single day to see her updates; Miley Cyrus updates about almost every single thing regularly.

As of now, Fuzzy the cat is supposedly dead as it's pass the deadline and Miley's not back on Twitter!

Here's the website containing @mileysavefuzzy's plea to Miley, and also Fuzzy's demise:

And here's Miley's rap to her fans around the world as to why she decided to quit tweeting:

What's your dream wedding dress?

Is it the Princessy yet elegant wedding gown by Oscar De La Renta?

Or the Mermaid cut Toga wedding gown by Vera Wang

Maybe you would like a more futuristic and not-so-traditional look with the Chanel collection:

Well, these Brides certainly like to think-out-of-the-box with their choices of wedding dresses which have travelled over to many countries in many people's emails, no thanks to the world wide web.

As slut wear, yes. Wedding dress: A DEFINITE NO!

I never knew that hotshorts were in for Weddings!

She look as though she's the bell.

HER BOOBS ARE FAKE. Wedding? WHAT WEDDING?

So there you have it. All thanks to the New Media, the most atrocious type of dressing can be found all over and for all to view.

Local Actress Fann Wong was diagnosed with H1N1 early last week, and a week later she's fine and up for work! Looks like she has a low immune system, as she had been hospitalized just after her wedding ceremony with Christopher Lee a few months ago.

AFA 2009

//EDITTED

The Opening Acts for the I Love AniSong concert.

The maids of Maid Cafe. Queen Bee's surprisingly missing!

Honestly, I couldn't believe that he actually dared to walk around like that??!! I wonder how much he got paid to do so. It better be worth his pride and humiliation.

The sexiest cosplayer I say during the 2-day show.

The latest talk in town just ended its 2-day run at Suntec Convention Hall on Sunday. For those who are (still) living under a rock, AFA stands for Anime Festival Asia, and this is the second year it’s in town. Except that this year, it’s back bigger and better than the previous year! So Anime fans had a good treat over the weekend.

I happen to land my hands on complimentary tickets, and both an AFA crew pass and an Organiser pass! This year, the crowd came reaaaally early and while the main entrance opens at 10am officially for public, the queue had already stretched 2 Halls down at 9am that day! I walked around the huge hall and was I surprised! Popular brand Bandai took up a large area of space selling its latest goods straight from Japan and I was so tempted to get its new Tamagotchi (Colored Edition) even though its functions are in Japanese. But here’s the catch: It costs a hefty S$109 for that cute little gadget. Thus it concluded my dream of getting one step closer to being a kawaii doll.

Tatsunoko Productions were also there fresh from Japan two days before, with Mr President of the Company and 3 other staffs. Their products are officially THE CUTEST I’ve seen so far, featuring Akubi Girls. Also, OIO Frozen Yoghurt had a booth selling their yummilicious yoghurt, which was a treat as its new stall has yet opened. (It opens in Vivocity in December) So remember to catch it when it’s out!

I don’t know where else to start from, as there’s just SO many exciting stuff. I’ll be gathering the images of the I LOVE ANISONG CONCERT (It costs a whooping $100ish for a day-pass), Cosplayers, and the Maid Café, where guys flock to without any pride and dignity. Hh, and also of a certain (annoying and not hot) maid of the Maid Café, who got into a spat with the Organiser of the Event. I say she deserves it!

Meanwhile, stay tuned to this blog, as the gossip girl will tell you what else is (or was) hot and what's not!

Xoxo, gossip girl.
(you know you love me)
